Sports Injury & Physiotherapy Clinic

Education
Liwia graduated from The Vincent Pol University in Poland, with a BS degree in Physiotherapy in 2011 and with a MSc in Physiotherapy in 2013

Career
Liwia started her career working in Poland at General Provincial Hospital in Lublin as a rotational physiotherapist, supporting adult patients with their recovery at Orthopaedic, Neurological, Geriatric and MSK wards.

She further progressed her career by moving to Private Health Care Clinic as a MSK Physiotherapist in 2012. Where she also has had the opportunity to work in Children’s Day Centre. This helped her to expand her knowledge in the rehabilitation for children with developmental disorders such as autism, cerebral palsy or Down syndrome.

After moving to Edinburgh in 2015, Liwia started working in a Private Physiotherapy clinic supporting a variety of patients with acute and chronic Musculoskeletal conditions like back pain, muscle imbalance, arthritis and knee injuries.

More recently in 2022, she has qualified as a Mummy MOT practitioner and has now specialized her skills in Women's health Physiotherapy. This process has pushed her development to a new level and she seeks to consistently improve care for all pelvic conditions. Please refer to our Women's health/ Pelvic conditions website page for further details.

Liwia works closely with clients to ensure that they are comfortable and confident in achieving their goals. Always offering advice and support based on her best knowledge and experience. She likes to use different types of hands on treatments like massage, manipulations techniques and kinesiology taping to help each person progress. In her treatments Liwia aims to promote efficiency of movement so patients can achieve their maximum potential.

As with all our clinicians at MacFarlane Physiotherapy, Liwia also has a special interest in sports injuries and she plans to take part in the 2023 Edinburgh Marathon.

Interests

Expanding knowledge in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy is one of Liwia’s favourite things to do.
She enjoys completing courses and studies that have to be evidence based in all her treatment and exercise options. She is passionate about working with professionals and amateur athletes and in her own workouts. Outside of the practice she likes to stay active by cycling, climbing, working out at the gym and taking part in endurance running races like Spartan Race or Tough Mudder.
